Product Description

Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) gear is provided to participants in the United States Antarctic Program (USAP), including Carhartt jackets. The highly insulated Carhartt overalls and jackets are a popular choice among outdoor workers in Antarctica, especially since the “Big Red” parkas can feel bulky and overly warm during the summer season. The jackets, often issued as work-wear, feature arctic quilt lining designed to offer comfort in cold environments.

Condition Description

Jackets: These jackets are in usable/wearable condition but will show wear and tear due to heavy use in Antarctica. Some of these jackets may have very small holes in sleeves, pockets, or lining. All jackets will show wear like field patches, fading, staining, paint spots, missing zipper pulls, etc. They may need to be washed/cleaned after purchase.

Overalls: These overalls are in usable/wearable condition but will show moderate or more wear and tear due to heavy use in Antarctica. The overalls may have minor rips or tears or larger rips/tears that have been repaired. They may also have patches, fading, staining, minor paint spots, sticky zippers or other signs of wear. They may need to be washed/cleaned after purchase. We have repaired these overalls as needed ensuring that each one is 100% wearable and functional

While the majority of the overalls are black, some are tan. You will receive a randomly selected pair in your size.

Features

The jackets are all 12-ounce, firm-hand, 100% ring-spun cotton duck, with nylon lining and quilted with arctic-weight polyester insulation and rib knit cuffs to keep you warm in the coldest conditions. The different models feature quantities and locations of pockets, but all feature two large lower pockets. All jackets feature a folded collar, under which are metal snaps for attaching an optional hood.

The overalls are also 12-ounce, firm-hand, 100% cotton duck, with double layered knees, which are kneepad compatible. They have reinforced back pockets, hammer loops, and ankle-to-thigh leg zips.
