This Canada Goose parka entered service in 2010. This particular parka came to us VERY dirty and stained, to the point where it looked pitch black. To get it to the condition shown in the images, we had it specially cleaned using a particularly powerful degreaser.
Despite all we could do, there is a still good amount of white, black, and gray staining on the parka, likely from paint and/or glue. The staining is most notably present on the front of the parka, the hood, and the arms. Excepting the staining, the parka is in pretty good condition. It shows minimal fading, with field patches on both arms (placed there by way of repair by a USAP program participant).
The refurbishment of this parka includes (but is not limited to):
- Specialty dry cleaning
- Fixing down loose velcro
- Replacing missing cuffs
- Zipper replacement
Did you know that each Big Red used by the USAP program has a serial number written on the inside flap of one of the pockets? This serial number, used to help the program keep track of their gear, usually includes the parka size and which year it entered service.
